      Sometimes they get extra tissue that grows, kind of like calluses, and it doesn’t cause a problem. Sometimes the tissue is hard and causes pain when stepped on. There are also auto-immune diseases that can affect the pads of the feet. I’d recommend you have your vet take a look just to be sure what you’re dealing with.
