cut a twelve inch square out of the carpet and pad then using pieces of pad and carpet that is like what you have glue down the pad and then double sided tape on the carpet piece all the way around carefully inset the new piece of carpet making sure not to catch the pile from the surrounding area under the piece your laying. fluff the pile and your done

If you have extra carpet a good carpetman can fix it. If it’s old and faded it will never look good

If you can locate a piece of the same carpet from a closet or other less noticeable place ,cut out the damaged area square. Cut a piece of the closet carpet and pad the same size or just slightly larger.First glue the new carpet and pad pieces together.Use a flexible glue such as Pliobond. After the glue has set fit the piece into the hole making sure the pattern runs the same way.Trim as needed to fit. Then glue it in place following the glue instructions. Place a heavy object on the patch until it sets.Use a brush to blend the area and you are done.
